Our proposal for Chadwick Road sees a paired back selection of materials create a calm and muted environment, employing raw clay plaster for walls, polished concrete and portland limestone as well as a combination of douglas fir and walnut for joinery elements. Walls are covered in a raw clay plaster.
A model (left) was used to explore this material palette: with a polished tile base, real wood model components for joinery and a cast wall to represent the solidity of the stone elevation.

The elevation of the new extension is expressed as a heavy, load-bearing element with limestone being visible internally and re-
occurring in the kitchen island and hallway.

Reconfiguring internal walls allowed us
to provide much needed storage in the hallway. Douglas fir lines the length of the hallway, from the front door to the back of the flat, and conceals doors and storage.
